LA CARAVANE PASSE
Place Arnaud Bernard
SATURDAY 14 JUNE, 20:30
OPEN-AIR CONCERT
An incendiary groove, a stimulating energy that will thrill fans of Goran Bregovic's music, plus anyone else with ears open and bodies ready to rock to the sound of this zany Balkan brass music. Formed in 1999, the group has a single watchword: no matter what, whether you've lost your cat, your keys or the love of your life, keep on partying. There's no point in crying, just dance, move your body. Dazzling brass, bouncy banjo, animated percussion will help even the most self-conscious to let go. Did we say it was Balkan music? Yes definitely, but also rock, hip-hop, tarantella and tango, a mass of "gypsified" ingredients.
Co-produced by Rio Loco & Escambiar

SWING 39 / VRACK / ANAKRONIC ELECTRO ORKESTRA
Fête de la Musique
Place de la Daurade
SATURDAY 21 JUNE, 18:00
CONCERT PLEIN AIR
Three groups on top form to celebrate this annual national event in style, three enlightened views of gypsy and Balkan music. Crazy about Django, Swing 39 swears by Manouche-style swing, reviving music by the master and some of his disciples. A troupe of 13 musicians with springs attached to their feet, Vrack have created their own brilliant universe stretching from Ireland to Afghanistan, bringing you the best in enlivened eastern music. As for the Anakronic Electro Orkestra, they could probably be classified as "new klezmer" if their music wasn't quite so eclectic, with its fusion of whirling klezmer accordion and electro, jungle and hip-hop sounds.

LOLI PABAÏ
Le Mandala Jazz Club

SATURDAY 21 JUNE, FROM 18:00 AND CONTINUING ALL NIGHT LONG
True to the proverb "the gypsy dances like the song sings", Loli Pabai lead us on a merry dance, combining their beautiful, joyful, nostalgic singing with the gypsy frenzy of their brass instruments. It's the marriage of two strong, deep, sister voices, ranging from mezzo to high-pitched. Responding to the vocals are the energetic pairing of double bass and drums, the resolutely jazzy improvisations of the trumpet player, and the authentic warbling melodies of the saxophone.
