FESTIVAL IDENTITY
World Music Festival
Founded: 1995
Frequency: held annually in June
Attendance in 2007: 167,849 festival-goers
Each year the Garonne welcomes a river from a different part of the world. Through a combination of music, shows for young audiences, visual arts, open-air cinema... and its festive, popular spirit, Rio Loco aims to reflect the cultural diversity and richness of the invited countries.

Down by the river...
As in previous years, the festival's main attractions will be the three stages set up in the Prairie des Filtres, a six-hectare park on the banks of the Garonne river.
2008… from Budapest to Bucharest
In June 2008, Rio Loco will be celebrating the diversity and abundance of Balkan culture, with its unique blend of traditional and contemporary influences.
Creativity, intercultural encounters... the festive spirit of the Balkans will flow right through Toulouse. Tarafs, gypsy brass bands, Klezmer music, Manouche-style swing, cimbaloms… will all take centre stage.
Flooding the city with energy
With many related events (concerts, film projections, etc.) taking place since November 2007, and creative workshops running since January, this total immersion in Balkan culture will continue right through until summer.
For the entire month of June, a Balkan breeze will be blowing through Toulouse, bringing exhibitions, concerts, dance, lectures, film projections, all night festivities ... to around fifty different participating venues.

Affordable entry
Yet again, the exceptional pricing policy will make it easier for large numbers of visitors to attend, with the €5 entrance fee giving access to four concerts, a show for young audiences, the night cinema, as well as the Cultural Village where the best of Balkan gastronomy and handicrafts is just waiting to be discovered.
